Acne-Derm exerts an antibacterial and comedolytic effect:
Azelaic acid, the active ingredient in Acne-Derm, inhibits the growth of the propionibacteria involved in the development of acne and the production of acne-promoting fatty acids.
Azelaic acid affects the hornification process of the epidermal cells and is therefore able to exert a therapeutically positive effect on the formation of comedones (blackheads, whiteheads) which occurs in acne.
